Stop motion Blog Post 5/19/15

My stop motion video was about a little play-dough boy who gets on his skateboard and rides for a while and falls off. If I were to rate my movie I would rate it a 7 because my presentation wasn't too mind blowing but it was pretty interesting and my camera work was a little shaky.I would do the project over and do a completely different idea, and use better camera work when taking pictures and stuff. My stop motion was unique because nobody did what I did, and I used play-doh as a prop in my project and I thought that was unique. I feel I deserve a high "b" or a low "a" because my stop motion was good but I also could've improved on my camera work and filming.

Unethical Practice 4-19-15

When you were in school did your teacher ever tell you not to plagiarize because it damage your reputation in school and stop you from getting into that university you've always wanted to go to when you were in college. Well your teacher was right plagiarism can have that effect, but did your teacher ever tell you about all of the other unethical practices' like Ghost Writing, Purloining, Collusion. If you haven't keep reading and I will explain what they mean, and hopefully answer some questions.

Ghost Writing is when someone authors another person's paper then later passes said person's paper as their own, which is a form of stealing, and can do basically wreck your chances of getting into a university. Purloining is when you tell someone, more likely a friend of yours that you won't steal their work and you do it anyway, which is a violation of trust and will ruin friendships and relationships. Collusion is when someone decides that they should commit fraud and cheat their way out of something like an essay, which can also devastate the chances of you getting into that one big university you were looking at going too. I will now answer some questions

1.Why do you think that most people use unethical practices to cheat academically?
I think people do this when they have run out of time or options to do their own work and decide to copy off of someone else's paper instead of just accepting the bad grade that waits ahead.
2.Which one of the four offenses committed you think should have been let off with a warning rather than expelled? Why?
I think purloining should be let of with a warning, because even if you do steal your friends work you two can still forgive each other and put the issue in the past.
3.What kinds of problems will follow the students with this on their record?
Colleges won't accept you into their school, because they don't want you to plagiarize again, and because you won't be able to go to college, that will effect your career in the future.
4.Search the unethical academic practices or plagiarism at the school you want to attend and see what the offense for these practices are and explain.
I want to attend KU when I am older, and their consequences for plagiarism are; If you are to get caught in the act of plagiarizing you will be immediately expelled and it will be put on your permanent record.

3/6/15 Sphero Macrolab

Lesson 1: Speed,Time, and Distance In this sphero lesson we downloaded the app Macrolab and we learned how to program sphero's and teach them how to move in certain directions or make them move a certain distance and turn around and come back to us. We also learned how to calculate distance and speed using the delay button when programming our sphero which helped us with other lessons along the way.

Lesson 2: 2D Geometry In this sphero lesson my partner and I learned how to make two-dimensional shapes using different angles that make shapes like for example a square would be 0,90,180,and 270. Also to make our spheros move in shapes we had to color coordinate the sphero using the RGB option in the sphero app Macrolab

Lesson 3: Mean, Median, and Mode, in this lesson my partner and I learned how to calculate The three M's using by calculating different tests by knocking a certain item many times or kind of like bowling to see how many pins we could knock over with our sphero and which from their we put the data from our tests on to our sheets.

Lesson 4: Percentages, for this lesson my partner and I calculated percentages with Macrolab. This lesson I thought was a lot like the first lesson with calculating speed, distance, and time but instead of doing that we calculated percentages using speed, time, and distance. Like I said it was a lot like the first lesson and all we really did was measured distances and calculated speed and turned them into percentages so I thought it was like doing something over again but with an extra step involved.

Lesson 5: Patterns and Colors; This lesson I thought was the most confusing and most difficult. Mainly because me and my partner struggled to actually figure out what to do even with the directions on Edmodo. But anyway what we did was used the RGB setting on Macrolab to create different patterns. The second thing we did was use Morse Code to incorporate the word Sphero into one of the patterns which I thought was interesting but very time consuming and confusing.

1/29/15 Public Service Announcements

Public Service Announcements are disseminated messages that are broadcast-ed through the radio or television, warning people not to do something or to encourage people to do something. We use Public Service Announcements so that we can get a certain message to people for Ex: The National Weather Service is encouraging you to stay inside. Here are some examples of PSA's...

Today's post will be about my favorite "App of the Day". My app I have chosen is Instagram. If you don't know what Instagram is, well then you've probably been living under a rock your whole life, just kidding! Anyway though, Instagram is an app that involves gaining followers and taking pictures of yourself or just random things that you or some other people might enjoy. This app is a lot like Twitter but with photos instead of posts but these two apps share the same Followers/Following trait. This app is great because if you want to tell people what you're doing you can just post a picture of what your doing and other people can see it and vise verse and it gives you an image too see what people are doing instead of boring old words. This app is also great because if you have some time to kill you scroll through your feed and see what people are doing. All in all this is a great app and you should download it now on the App Store or on Google Play!

1/12/15 Collusion Jonah McCormick

Today I will be answering some questions about Collusion Web Tracking and what it does from a video from Ted Talks, these questions will be located below...

This tracking was concern for the speaker, because they websites can basically read you like a book just because of what you look up on the internet and it can be potentially dangerous.

I think these trackers try to create a virtual profile of yourself without your knowledge and use this information from that profile to make their websites better based from your information and other peoples information.

This tracking can be good if your on a video website or something and they use your virtual profile to suggest things you might want like or want to watch. It might be a bad thing if they are trying to get personal information from you without your knowledge.

I actually was. That guy only navigated to around 7 websites and over 100 different websites popped up just because of that one website

Well I mean it just all depends on how long I was on the internet or how many websites I navigated too. I do in fact use a lot of data so their would probably be a lot of trackers.
